Synonyms

Synonyms allow you to directly tailor search terms for enhanced accuracy. In SPARQUE Hub, you can manage your synonym sets. A synonym set is a group of words that are all related to each other, such as "mouse" and "mice". Each word in the set will be indexed, so if a user searches for “mouse”, all products with the word “mice” will be indexed as well (and also the other way around).

Synonym sets are always contained in synonym lists, which act as the foundation for organizing and managing them.
Depending on your needs, you can create one or multiple lists. For example, you could have a list containing the sets mouse, mice, car, automobile, vehicle and laptop, notebook.

Without a list, it is not possible to create or store synonym sets.

Configuring Synonyms

To configure synonyms, navigate to SPARQUE Hub | Search | Synonyms.

Creating a Synonym List

To create a synonym list:

  1. Click Add Synonym list.
  2. Provide the list with a descriptive name.
  3. Click Save Synonym List.

Once done, a pipeline with mapping is created in SPARQUE Desk within the dataset “HUB”. In the list overview, you can see the pipeline identifier where the synonym list is created. Copy the URL to use the list in other datasets if needed.

Deleting a Synonym List

To delete a synonym list:

  1. Click Delete.
  2. Click Yes, I’m sure.

After completion, the URL in the pipeline identifier is removed, and the list including the synonym sets is deleted.

Adding a Synonym Set

To add a synonym set:

  1. Click Edit in your synonym list overview.
  2. Click Add new synonym set or edit an existing one.
  3. Enter a new word and click Add synonym. Repeat this until your synonym set is done.
  4. Click Save changes.

Deleting a Synonym

To delete a synonym in a synonym set:

  1. Click Edit in your synonym list overview.
  2. Click Edit for the synonym set containing the synonym to be deleted.
  3. Click the trash icon of the word you want to delete.

  1. Click Edit in your synonym list overview.
  2. Click Delete for the synonym set to be deleted.
  3. Click the trash icon of the synonym set you want to delete.

Importing Synonym Sets

To import synonym sets:

  1. Click Import sets.
  2. Click Download template file.
  3. Change the records for each row.
  4. Save the file locally.
  5. Upload the file.
  6. Click Import.

It is possible to upload a maximum of 4 synonyms per row.

Dataset in SPARQUE

Each synonym set is stored in SPARQUE Desk. For each set, an object is created. Each object includes a unique identifier with synonym and label as attributes. This object can be used in SPARQUE strategies.

Using Labels

Within each synonym set, you can set a label. This can be useful to manage multiple synonym sets within one list for multiple channels. See Manage Your Synonyms with Channels for details.
